The Eidolon’s Gospel

“Hark now!” An eidolon once said his gospel to me,
“Embarked upon beyond the last hill I see…
Pebbles to stones,
After the long longed reveries,
Dribs to oceans,
Seeking the decrepit light of him,
Now a nocturnal zephyr caresses me.
I saw how the prayers flee,
Depleting his glee,
Entombed beneath a statue,
Heighten the pedestal’s splendor,
Doled inexorable wrath,
Ridicule all entity.
Beheld the haloes going wane,
Away from the etiolated gaud,
So I chose my own way to be.”
Said he smiled and plodded on his lane.

Now decades gone as I walked on,
I’m on my way back,
From beyond the last hill
I thought I was to see.
